SMA Foundation Announces 2019 Scholarship Recipients

SMA is excited to announce the 2019 scholarship recipients! Each year the SMA Foundation Scholarship committee reviews applications and chooses three students enrolled in Sport Management and Sport Administration programs to be awarded the scholarship. In addition to the scholarship, each of the recipients will be awarded a free year of student membership in SMA where they can learn more about the profession. 

Jonathan Paleka, Brigham Young University
Born and raised in Kauai, HI, Jonathan is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Experience Design and Management from Brigham Young University. He is active in club leadership around campus and enjoys learning about the Sports and Entertainment Industry. With a background in venue management and premium guest service, Jonathan has experience in the NBA, PGA of America and NCAA. With his mind set on pursuing a career in sports and entertainment, Jonathan hopes to create memorable experiences for people of all ages.


Kevin Stryker, West Liberty University
Kevin Stryker is from Wheeling, WV and recently graduated from West Liberty University with a double-major in Sport Management and Marketing.  He is attending law school at West Virginia University in the fall.  Kevin served as an intern at the 2019 SMA Seminar, and he enjoyed getting to know the members of SMA. Kevin will be receiving the Ron Labinski SMA Foundation Sports Scholarship which is a great honor for Kevin, and he thanks the Foundation for its generosity. 

Cameron Coe, Western New England University
Cameron Coe is currently a rising senior at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts with a double major in Sport Management and Marketing.  After serving as the customer service and merchandise manager for the Danbury Titans Professional Hockey Team, Cameron is currently the marketing director for Pioneer Valley Pro Wrestling.  In addition to work, Cameron practices mixed martial arts, where he is a second degree black belt, and has also done voice-overs for local radio commercials. Cameron is honored to have received this privilege and is excited to continue to advance his career in the sports industry.
