2024 Stadium Managers Association Seminar Internship

Seminar Internship Details:

The 2024 Seminar will be held February 11-15, 2024 in Hollywood Beach, FL. Interns must plan to arrive at the host hotel, Margaritaville Resort, by early afternoon on Saturday, February 10th and stay until 2pm Thursday, February 15th.  Intern responsibilities at the Seminar are detailed in the enclosed volunteer agreement.

SMA Staff will supervise the students or recent college graduates who are accepted into the program.  Professors of chosen interns are also encouraged to attend the seminar but will not be responsible for any program supervision.

Student applicants must be at least 21 years of age with junior, senior, or graduate student standing, a minimum 2.5 GPA, and a focus in stadium management or an industry related field or a recent college graduate within the last 12 months. SMA will provide hotel rooms, conference registration, and some meals to student interns. The cost of airfare and/or ground transportation to and from the seminar will be the responsibility of the student.

The SMA Scholarship Foundation will reimburse interns for up to $300 of their travel expenses, which will be paid after the Seminar with appropriate submitted receipts.

To be considered, applications must include the following:

  1. Two letters of reference (at least one must be from an employer verifying that your focus is towards stadium operations and specifically explaining how you could add value to the SMA seminar, both letters must be industry specific)
  2. Writing sample: Submit an essay about yourself and why you are interested in attending Seminar and what you hope to gain(minimum of 250 words and maximum of 500 words).

  1. A 2-3 Minute video sharing how you hope the SMA Seminar will help you grow professionally. After you submit the remainder of your application materials, a link will be provided in your confirmation email for submission.
