2024-2025 SMA Foundation Scholarship Application

Purpose of the Scholarship          

The purpose of the Stadium Managers Association Foundation scholarship is to provide financial assistance to graduate/undergraduate students whose goals and ambitions are to pursue a career in Venue/Stadium Management. Applicants must have completed a minimum of two years of study or be classified as a junior, must be classified as a full-time student by their university for the entire scholarship year, must have actively performed worthy community service, and must have stadium/venue-related experience.

To be considered, applications must include the following:

  1. Copy of official college transcript (including most recent semester). Transcript must be official and issued by college or university.
  2. Three letters of personal reference. At least one should be from an instructor/advisor, and one from outside the academic environment, preferably an industry professional. Letters should be current and personal to the applicant. Please note that reference letters should also be dated and contain a personal signature.
  3. Writing Sample. Provide an essay about yourself and why you are applying for this scholarship. The essay should include your goals and ambitions for a career in the Venue/Stadium Management industry. (Minimum 250 words and maximum of 500 words)
  4. Current resume.
  5. Completed application form. Be sure to be thorough and sign the form.

Please note that your application and the required supplemental materials will be reviewed and scored with the following consideration given to each category noted below:

  • GPA: 20%
  • Financial Need: 10%
  • Educational & Career Goals: 20%
  • School & Activities: 15%
  • References: 10%
  • Community Activities: 15%
  • Industry Activities: 10%

For consideration, your application must be complete and accurate. Student membership in the Stadium Managers Association (SMA) is not required to apply for this scholarship. Student membership in SMA will be included in the award package should you be selected as a recipient.
